Fourth-grade English and Social Studies teacher in Tennessee arrested on rape charges from student who was 12. There may be additional students who were groomed by the teacher on social media, and the authorities are actively searching for them.
The Covington Police Department arrested her on Friday night outside of her residence. She is being held in the Tipton County Jail on a $25,000 bail at this time. McCommon allegedly had a sexual contact with a former pupil in her house in 2021, as reported by Covington Police Chief Donna Turner.
When the abuse occurred, the youngster was just 12 years old. McCommon worked as an educator at the local elementary school, Charger Academy. A parent informed the school system on August 24 about the claims.
According to Yahoo News, McCommon was abruptly fired. Several more minors, according to the police, came forward with allegations that McCommon had communicated with them online and invited them to play video games. She allegedly proceeded to send them naked photos of herself and make sexual advances toward them.
According to the reports from the police, McCommon did acknowledge to having inappropriate interactions with the ex-students. Many parents were astonished and upset to learn of the teacher's arrest almost two weeks after the fact when the school announced it on Facebook. Due to a lack of faith in the local school system, several parents have expressed interest in homeschooling.
Bianca Taylor said she asked her son, the instructor, if she had been in school recently, according to Fox13 Memphis. Her youngster reported seeing a substitute teacher after hearing that his regular educator was off ill. They better not treat this like any other scenario, so I hope they do. Taylor remarked, "If it was a man doing it the other way, y'all would take it more seriously.
Whatever the case may be, it should not be ignored or covered up. According to the police, there is no evidence that any of the sexual misconduct took place on school property. Teacher's attorney Jere Mason said his client is innocent. He added that his client is a victim of unjust social media harassment. What's happening on social media "feels like a witch hunt to us," Mason added. According to Tipton County Schools, McCommon has previously taught at Crestview Elementary School. As a result of their ongoing investigation, police anticipate filing additional charges against McCommon. On October 13th, she will be making her first appearance at General Sessions Court.
